What is Collagen?
Collagen is the main structural protein that forms the connective tissue throughout our bodies from the skin to tendons – ligaments – muscles & bones.
It can be said collagen is the mesh that holds everything together; keeping us flexible & healthy.
Collagen is often referred to as a complex protein due to it contains19 different amino acids.
Eating collagen-rich foods or foods that boost collagen production may also help create the building blocks (amino acids) you need for your health goals. “There are three amino acids important for collagen production: proline, lysine, and glycine.” Fruit and vegetables are the safest and best for health. Although several foods contain collagen, it’s unknown whether the collagen in food offers the same benefits as supplements. Due to the poor quality of the food and to create enough collagen you would have to consume a ton of collagen supportive rich foods daily.
Collagen is a vital building block of the human body, comprising approximately 30% of our total body protein and as much as 75% of your skin’s.(according healthline This substance gives structure to your skin, making it elastic and flexible, and serves as the “glue” that holds together your joints and connective tissue. Although our body produces the collagen it needs naturally; collagen production starts to decline around 25yrs of age.
We start to see changes in loss of collagen through our skin but- it runs deeper than the skin. The skin just shows the symptoms of what’s going on inside.
By age 30, the effects of collagen loss become more apparent, showing signs like:
- Reduced skin elasticity ( sagging)
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Joint discomfort – (aches & pains)
Up to 20% of our body’s collagen may be lost by the age of 40 ! unless we do something beforehand.
By 50, a person’s natural collagen levels may decline by as much as 50%.
It’s no surprise that many adults begin taking drugs for pain or reaching for anything to numb the discomfort. We can prevent this with more collagen if we choose to try something healthier.
I owned a day spa where I provided skin care & massage; the common concern among women going through their 40s was the fear of looking and feeling old. This simply doesn’t have to happen when you understand why and choose something healthier to try in dealing with discomfort. Don’t simply focus on the outside to feel better; combine it with healthy nutrition.
Some people reach for more severe methods in creating healthy skin that can be both harmful and toxic.
It’s great to know of a simple nutritional boost that can assist in feeling good and delay the negative signs of aging.
Since collagen is an animal product-( I’m sorry Vegans)- Choosing a collagen supplement from a reputable source is important. Look for collagen that comes from grass-fed, pasture-raised animals or wild-caught fish. The collagen should not have any additional fillers or additives.
- For vegans, focus heavily on ingesting protein rich foods on a daily basis to ingest as much amino acids as possible. Healthline
Collagen peptides are usually considered the best form of collagen for ingestion. Hydrolyzed collagen should be taken if a person wants to take a collagen supplement. Hydrolyzed collagen means the collagen has been broken down into small peptides, which are easier for the body to digest & absorb. This is also found in many skin care products.
Which COLLAGEN supplement is best?
I’ve seen them in liquid & powder forms.
There are so many different types of collagen products that you see on every store shelf or flashing banner ads delivering all types of promises. It can be difficult to choose.
Collagen supplements are generally safe, quite easy to use, and definitely worth trying for their potential health benefits.. You don’t need a Drs. prescription but, if you have health challenges it’s always best to discuss your interest with your health provider before exploring- just to be safe.
Are most brands the same?
Most powdered collagen is made from animal “leftovers”. This form can be poorly absorbed by the body and is limited to only collagen. For therapeutic health reasons it’s best to find an easier to absorb form.
In addition, Over-the-counter supplements are largely unregulated. So it’s wise to find one that is backed by science & endorsed by a professional in health care.
A new friend who is a- registered dietitian-nutritionist and certified diabetes educator-
Sonja Yadgar Schoonenberg-
She’s on a mission to inform people with the best reliable information and to guide people to supplements that are backed by science & That provide results!
She introduced me to :

It’s in liquid form and it tastes great!.
Sonja mentioned:
“It’s not what you take that matters, it’s what your body actually Absorbs”
The bottom line is- that it’s never too late — or too early to take better care of our basic needs.
Learning about what will naturally strengthen our system is ideal rather than waiting till we break down then attempt to repair..right? Repairs are always not easy to fix.
My personal experience
I’ve been taking this collagen for a month now; what I’ve honestly noticed is pretty impressive.
I’m not working out as much as I would like to and as a result, I have cellulite. Especially in my upper arms- After a month of taking the Liquid Biocell life, it’s not nearly as noticeable. I need to firm up of course but, the appearance has definitely improved.
Another area I have noticed is :
My neck tension due to working and prior accidents have caused alot of stiffness.
Since taking Liquid Biocell life I’m able to stretch deeper and hold poses for longer without stiffness or pain…
I’m excited for these results so far and I’m going to continue taking it twice a day.
The basic recommendation is 1 tbl. twice a day with or without food. The one I’m taking tastes like berries, not too sweet either. There are several different types of Modere collagen depending on your individual interests and goals…
Deciding to take care of ourselves in the best way- is a decision; It’s better to prevent discomfort than wait until you feel bad then need to repair yourself… RIGHT?
Aging doesn’t have to include feeling bad with achy joints or simply not being happy with your appearance. We can take healthy action steps in living our best lives feeling and looking healthy! It starts with creating a healthy habit.
In Closing…
